rain

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very slowly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said---
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
Shel Silverstien

I feel a bit the way this poem is stating..
slow---with rain in my head.

We have a had a very wet season...and a very wet week.
Our garden (newly planted) is enjoying it I am sure.
I, on the other hand, am hungry for sunshine.
Starved, might be better said!

One highlight has been reading "Where the Sidewalk Ends."
My sister Annie gave us this book (with the cd-which I love) and a few of Mr. Silverstein's others quite a few years ago.
It had been WAY too long since we have read them.
Thank you Annie!

We will be reading them much more often!

Happy Halloween!

Our big Halloween festivities were on Saturday!
We had a trick-o-treat fest on Main Street!
We headed back home with a lot of our Davis family (thanks guys!) to our house for dinner.
Just as the sun went down...
the rain came pouring down.  :(
We decided last minute to have a big trick-o-treat party in the house.
Every adult (there were quite a few of us!) took a room and stood behind a door with candy in hand.
All of the cousins trick-o-treated at each door.
We had a blast!

Then we watched football (we won by the skin of our teeth...phew!) while the kids played (aka-tore up the house!).
The game was over....
we did 10 minute pick up and it was as good as new!

I love my litte black cats!
How long will I be able to pick their costumes?
I am afraid Danny and I will have to join the family theme next year---
or we might have a revolt on our hands!

A few (or a lot of) pictures of the girls---

Happy Halloween!

Her favorite things:  make up stories, macaroni and cheese, playing SORRY and GUESS WHO, recess, art projects, dancing, "Spot" her toy puppy, tag-a-long bike (behind Mom, Dad or Sharon), wearing dresses, swimming, reading Mercy Watson books and her Madeline doll.

Our favorite things about Kate:  how much she loves her family, creative imagination, her giggle, her love of celebrations and holidays, her thoughtfulness, and her kind heart~  We love you!
